Sunglint on the Alabama Stream

.Within this June 26, 2023, image drawn from the International Spaceport station, direct sunlight polishes off the smooth waters of the Alabama River in a phenomenon called sunglint. When capturing Earth, astronauts often make use of sunglint's possibility to enhance the comparison between water areas and concerning property surface areas. In the 1960s, the Alabama Stream was repressed, making Dannelly Tank (the large shining area at center left). Building and construction of the dam also brought up water levels upriver. This caused flooding at many aspects along the stream. These flooded zones are regular of flood plains-- the low, standard areas quickly alongside much larger waterways. Within this picture, disaster area seem like off-balance, intense designs stretching off of the waterway, like at Gee's Bend (facility bottom).Text Credit: Justin Wilkinson.Image Credit Report: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
